The Pantry hosts and participates in a number of events throughout the year to build community, raise awareness about hunger, raise funds to advance our mission, and provide education. We invite you to revisit this page to learn more about upcoming events!

Woof Wine Walk

This is a one-of-a-kind local fundraiser for the North Liberty and Coralville Community Pantries. The Woof Wine Walk is a one-mile walk on a beautiful groomed trail around the Walker Homestead Farm near Iowa City. Bring your leashed four-legged friend and they'll enjoy some treats and you'll enjoy some wine samples at the halfway mark and mimosas at the end. Food and other drinks available for purchase.

Taste, Tour, & Tribute

Join us for Tastes from the Garden, Tours of the Pantry, and Tributes to our amazing volunteers! This year's event is Wednesday, September 11, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

The Taste and Tour event started in 2015 as a way to celebrate and sample from our first year of the Growing Together Garden. The event includes activities for all ages, foods prepared with ingredients from the garden, and delicious tastes from local restaurants. In 2021, we added our volunteer recognition to the event, paying tribute to volunteers who have surpassed milestone numbers of hours given to the Pantry. Everyone is welcome!

This year's event is sponsored by United Iowa Financial. We will have food bites from Maggie's Farm Wood-Fired Pizza, TC Bonez Catering & BBQ, El Azul Mexican Grocery, and Kona Ice

Winter Coat Distribution

If you are local to North Liberty or rural Johnson County, your family may be eligible for winter coats during our annual coat distribution. Learn more at the Pantry leading up the event.

This event is also in great need of donations of winter coats and other winterwear for all ages, as well as volunteers (no training required!) to help staff the event and help it run smoothly.

Stone Soup Supper

Our Stone Soup Supper is a warm community meal for all in need and those who wish to support the Pantry. Come and enjoy a variety of soups from area restaurants. While free to anyone, if you are able to contribute a donation, it is greatly appreciated. Why Stone Soup? You may recall the old German folk tale involving hungry travelers who persuade local townsfolk to give them food by introducing them to “Stone” soup. Although they started out with a stone in a pot of water, villagers each added garnishes of vegetables and spices ending up with a wonderfully nutritious and delicious soup for all the community to enjoy. This folk tale reminds us that more is accomplished when we pool our resources and work together.

Thanksgiving in July

Donations often decrease in the summer months. The Pantry's Thanksgiving in July initiative asks businesses, organizations, and individuals in our community to do food drives and make donations to the Pantry. This has been a longstanding tradition in the Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty areas.
