Plant new roots with NLCP
If you’ve visited the North Liberty Community Pantry somewhat regularly over the past 4 years, you have likely noticed that the place seems busier than it did pre-pandemic. Since 2019, our warehouse space has struggled to accommodate the generous food deliveries from our friends at Table to Table, HACAP, and others. However, the demand from the community causes our stock to run out quickly. Because of our lack of space, it has become harder to meet the needs of our community.
Since 2021, we have grown to serve more than 900 unique families throughout Johnson County, more than double who we served in 2021. Many of these families shop in person, and several use our Grocery Delivery Service. We’ve more than doubled the amount of food we’ve distributed and the number of family visits, but our fastest-growing resource is Grocery Delivery. We delivered 5 times more groceries in 2023 than in 2021. Neighbors of the Pantry love this service, and we’d love to bring it to more families as we keep growing.
"I’m on oxygen and just got out of a nursing home so it’s wonderful to have Grocery Delivery. I don’t know how I’d survive without you. You do more for me than you know.”
To make sure we can continue to serve our growing community, we need more space. We are seeking donations and collaborators to help us build a new pantry! The proposed plan features over 10,500 square feet of usable space for a large warehouse, a roomy shopping area, a waiting lounge, and better accommodations for volunteers and staff. More details will be published as the campaign moves forward, but we are so excited to share this opportunity with you.
Thank you to our "Early Supporters" for your early commitment to our Planting New Roots Campaign.
